WHO IS AKM?
This is our story. Three sisters, raised away from extended family so it was just us.
As adults, life pulled us apart until K suggested a trip to reconnect. So, we flew to Chile. Had the conversations we’d avoided. Healed old wounds. And committed to doing better thus creating our mantra, AKM Always Keep Moving.
MEET "A"
Amani is the “A” in Always—the heartbeat behind the reminder that thriving relationships require intentionality and honest communication.
Amani Council is Co-Founder of AKM (Always Keep Moving), where she champions intentional relationships, authenticity, and meaningful connection. As the eldest sister, she brings a grounding presence and a commitment to helping others feel seen, valued, and empowered. Through AKM, she supports siblings in strengthening bonds and building purpose-driven relationships through shared experiences.
With over a decade of experience in leadership development, strategic planning, and communications, Amani currently serves as a Senior Recruiter at American Airlines, leading full-cycle recruitment and strategic hiring initiatives. Her background also includes community relations and public affairs, where she built partnerships and led engagement efforts. She holds a Master of Science in Administration and Organizational Development from Trinity University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology from Christopher Newport University.
* Amani currently resides in Dallas, Texas and enjoys all things sunshine, people, and culture.
* Her favorite travel experience was making a solo move to the Dominican Republic in 2014.
* Amani believes that stepping beyond your comfort zone reveals your greatest strength and that with the right mindset, any challenge can become an opportunity for growth.
MEET "K"
Chekesha T. White (“Kesha”) is Co-Founder of AKM (Always Keep Moving) and Founder and Executive Director of G.I.R.L.S. Club (G.C.), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls through mentorship, leadership development, and life skills. With nearly 30 years of experience in education, she has served as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and currently as an adjunct professor at Trinity Washington University. She also serves as a technical assistant and trainer with MentorVA, supporting youth mentoring initiatives.
Chekesha holds an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Old Dominion University, a Master’s degree in Teaching from Christopher Newport University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hampton University. She brings strong leadership, program development expertise, and a passion for creating meaningful, culturally immersive experiences that foster connection and personal growth through AKM.
* Kesha lives in Hampton, VA with her husband of 24 years and is the proud mother of two children, Iyana and Isaiah.
* She is a minister at C3 Hampton and facilitates A Space for Moms, a weekly gathering where mothers share challenges, celebrations, and support.
* Her favorite travel experience was celebrating her 50th birthday on safari in Kenya, where she witnessed a cheetah hunt from start to finish—an unforgettable moment that awakened the science educator in her.
MEET "M"
Mashona is an ICF certified healing-centered coach and skilled facilitator with experience designing and leading culturally responsive group experiences that foster connection, trust, and personal growth. As co-founder of AKM Adventures she combines lived experience with professional expertise to guide sibling groups through intentional, relationship-building adventures.
Her background includes 20+ years of program development, group facilitation, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on creating inclusive, well-structured environments that adapt to diverse team dynamics. Prior to consulting, Mashona spent 8 years directing a 25-day residential leadership adventure-based program for youth and young adults. Additionally, Mashona has successfully led reflective workshops, multi-day and location retreats, individual and group coaching engagements, trainings, and webinars.
* Mashona lives in an RV on family land in Orange, VA with her dog Huck.
* She loves being in nature and prefers travel experiences when she can roam around and be with the locals.
* Her favorite travel experience was a trip to Africa, where she spent 2 months, visited 6 countries and had once in a lifetime experiences (like sharing a Coke with President Obamas grandmother) for her 40th birthday.
